Transitioning From Scotlandville Magnet High School To Howard University

Today Is January 9, 2010- My First Post About My Transition From High School To College. As I Come To Think About It Things Wont Be Much Different From High School To College. Right Now Im In An All Black School, With Only 1 White Kidd That I Have Seen. HOW SAD... There Will Still Be Messy People, That Always Talks About Others, And That Will Never Shut Up About The Stupidness Things. The Only Thing That Will Be Different Is The Variety Of Cultures, Religions, Etc, In The School. One Thing I LOVE About Howard University Is How Everyone That Goes That Has A Dream, Plan And Big Future. Here At Scotlandville All The Students Have Is Weed, Bad Words, And Ready To Fight Spirits. But On The Other Hand There Are A FEW Kidds That Will Be Just As Successful As The Rest Of The People In The World.

On December 29,2009 I Had Actually Dreamed About Howard University That Night And That I Receieved My Package In The Mail. For Some Reason HBCU'S Are Extremely Slow When It Comes To The Administration. Many Of My Future Classmates Had Still Not Received Their Packet By January 1, 2010 Which Is A MAJOR PROBLEM.  I Had Been Waiting For My Package Since October 15, 2009 And It Had Finally Came In The Mail. As I Woke Up At 11:00A.M I Checked The MailBox And There It Was. Waiting For Me In A Big White Envelop...

Why did I choose Howard University?

I've always wanted to attend an HBCU (Historically Black College/University) and Howard was my number 1 choice. I had seen nothing but positive reviews and people that became very successul, career-wise, which also played a big influence. I chose Howard because it is a top ranked HBCU (ranked number 2 behind Spelman), it's in a big city, many prominent people have attended, and it's well known. Their school of Communications/Journalism is also the best compared to any other HBCU.

*You Need At Least A 2.5 & A 22 On The Act. I Dont Know Much About The SAT..
What Did I Have & Got Accepted?
I Sent My Freshman-Junior Transcript And Had A 2.6 & A 26 On The ACT.

MY WAITING EXPERIENCE..
I Applied To Howard University On October 15, 2009. My Acceptance Was Made 2 Weeks Letter. Even Though My Decision Was Made I Still Was Not Able To Know My Status Until It Was Posted Or I Received In The Mail. 1 Good Thing Is IF YOU APPLY ONLINE YOU FIND OUT YOUR STATUS ONLINE ON DECEMBER 15 And If U Dont Apply Online You Have To Wait Till You Get Your Letter And In My Case I Would Have Been Waiting Till December 29, 2009, ANGRILY. As The Time Went By Of Me Applying To Howard University And Waiting For My Status I Checked Howard's Website Everyday Just To See If Something New Was On There. I Watched Every Single Video On YouTube, About Resfest, Football Games, The Cheerleaders & The Ooh La La's, ETC... Howard University Was My Life. I Woke Up Thinking About Howard And Went To Sleep Thinking About Howard University. One Thing That Made It Better Was My Howard Fam On Facebook. The Howard Groups Did Nothing But Show Me I Was Not The Only One That Loved Howard As Much As I Do, A.K.A STALKERISH. Now Don't Get Me Wrong, Howard University Is An Awesome School, But I Started Feeling Like A Stalker After So Long. But It Was All Worth It. Waiting Those 2 Months Showed Me How To Have Patience Even Though Its Easier Said Than Done.
